What We Do

When differently abled individuals, of the age 18 years and above, are unable to adjust or continue in other special institutes due to their severe behavioural disorders, the need for personalized attention or even due to their age, they are left to be at home. All by themselves, unoccupied and idle, they slip into depression or their psychological problems tend to aggravate.

Advitya is an organization that seeks to provide vocational training to such students with a view to keep them occupied through creative work. Using colour and music as therapeutic measures to help the students overcome their problems, Advitya also provides a platform to explore the potential and talent of these specially gifted individuals. Advitya has been blessed with a team of diligent staff and immensely dedicated volunteers who painstakingly work with students on a one-on-one basis giving them individual attention and care.

A clear profiling of each student is done so that the volunteers can accordingly cater to the needs of every child. With all the love and respect that is ensured to the students, they are able to grow to their absolute potential.

The students work to add value to a range of gift products from office stationery, upholstery, bags, utility items to even occasion specific products like rakhis and diyas. Most of the products are from materials like jute, water hyacinth, handmade paper and cloth, which is environment – friendly.
The work is intricate and requires to be done with utmost perfection. It is rather amazing to see how these students can concentrate for hours on end to complete each piece with a professional touch. The final product is impeccable and of unmatched quality.

It’s not just work that keeps the students at Advitya occupied. Dancing, singing and yoga sessions are the time that students look forward to as it gives them the space to do what they enjoy doing.

At Advitya, nobody is forced to do what they do not want to do. This holds true for the students as well as the staff and volunteers. This instills in them a sense of belonging and freedom. Apart from everything else that is done at Advitya to                                            nurture and care for the special students, we believe that the                                            immediate surroundings also have an integral part to play in                                            the process.

The walls at Advitya have been hand painted by the staff                                             with colourful feathers, flowers and palm imprints which                                             adds brightness and life to an otherwise ordinary place.
